PARTNER-SUPPORTED MANUFACTURING / INSERTED COMPONENTS

Insert molding. Control the component before it enters the tool.

A molded body and its preformed insert need a shared interface specification. Define insert identity, positioning, protected features and the evidence needed for the finished assembly before comparing the offered route.

KeepWin coordinates partner-supported review. Exact material, responsible operations, process availability, dimensions, inspection, commercial quantities and timing are confirmed in the project proposal; no universal capability or certification is promised.

01 / INTERFACE PURPOSE

Define what the insert does in the assembly.

Threading, electrical contact, load transfer and locating can need different interface and evidence requirements. A visible insert is not proof of performance.

Fastening or location

Show engagement, mating references and the loads or assembly method. Define final-state fit and any required retention-related evaluation.

Contact or conductor

Map exposed and protected surfaces. Describe the relevant electrical or contact purpose and supporting checks; no generic conductivity or sealing result is promised.

Structural component

Explain load path and the connection between insert and body. Review relevant geometry and application evidence rather than assuming a universal bond strength.

02 / INSERT DEFINITION

Control the insert identity and how it is located.

A dimensional or surface change in the preformed component can affect the molded result. Keep the supplied condition part of the approved configuration.

Insert-interface relationship. Illustration, not to scale; no measured result or numerical capability is implied.

Identity and drawings

Name the insert part, material, revision and required supplied condition. Include the molded body files and governing interface dimensions.

Location and access

Identify locating features, orientation and important datums. Review how the proposed tool positions the insert and which deviations matter to assembly.

Protected surfaces

Mark threads, bores, contacts or visible areas that must remain usable. Protection and feasibility require project-specific confirmation.

Supply and variation

State who provides inserts and what incoming acceptance applies. Review permitted alternatives and changes before mixing components into an approved order.

03 / RESIN & COMPONENT

Review the exact material pairing.

Insert material, geometry, surface state and molding conditions interact. A broad resin family is not a guarantee of interface suitability.

04 / RESPONSIBILITIES

Agree who accepts and replaces the supplied components.

The commercial route should cover incoming inserts, handling, molded defects and changes. Ownership and loss terms are not assumed.

Incoming scope

Define quantities, identity, condition and requested evidence for inserts. Ask who checks acceptance before molding and how exceptions are handled.

Handling and protection

Confirm storage, segregation and protection needs where relevant. An operation image does not establish a universal clean-handling or traceability program.

Defect responsibility

Ask how rejected inserts or molded assemblies are reviewed, who approves disposition and what replacement assumptions apply.

Change record

Record insert and body revisions together. Material, dimensions, surface condition or supplier changes may require another sample or interface evaluation.

05 / FINAL EVIDENCE

Verify the assembled relationship after molding.

Insert position, exposed features, body dimensions and application performance are separate questions. Define the checks appropriate to the use.

06 / QUOTATION BRIEF

Include the insert supply and interface evidence in the offer.

Two offers may differ in component supply, incoming checks or defect assumptions. Put those items beside tooling and part price.

Files and quantity

Send both component definitions, exact materials, protected-feature map, sample and production quantities and destination. Identify critical interfaces and application conditions.

Breakdown

Ask for insert supply or handling, tooling, samples, molding, inspection, reports, packing and transport where relevant. Confirm exclusions and replacement assumptions.

Approval basis

Define which sample and evidence release the interface. Actual suitability, minimum quantities, capacity and schedule remain proposal-specific.

07 / QUESTIONS

Before an insert-molding enquiry.

Treat the preformed component as a controlled input.

Can customer-supplied inserts be used?

Supply, incoming condition, tooling fit and responsibility require confirmation. Send the insert specification and expected quantities.

Does molding automatically guarantee insert retention?

No universal result is claimed. Define the interface duty and any evaluation method and evidence needed.

Can exposed threads or contacts be protected?

Mark the requirement for review. The proposed tool and protection approach must be confirmed for the actual geometry.

Who pays for defective inserts or assemblies?

Inspection, rejection, replacement and loss assumptions must be stated in the proposal. No standard allocation is assumed.

Can the insert supplier change after approval?

Only through agreed review. Identity, dimensions and surface condition can affect the finished interface and earlier evidence.

PREPARE THE NEXT DECISION

Send the insert drawing with the molded-body model.

Include insert identity and supply responsibility, dimensional condition, resin, locating and protected features, assembly duty, quantities, evidence and destination.
