- Acceptance criteria
- The agreed requirements used to decide whether a sample, part or deliverable is acceptable.
- Approved sample
- An identified physical reference approved for a stated purpose, revision and scope.
- Assembly
- The combination of individual components into a larger product or subassembly.
- Baseline
- The agreed set of files, specifications and references from which changes are controlled.
- Bill of materials
- A structured list of components and relevant identifiers for an assembly.
- CAD
- Computer-aided design; digital information describing a design or part geometry.
- Clasp
- A closure mechanism used to secure a band or bracelet.
- Connector
- A component that joins the watch band to its mating watch interface.
- Cosmetic surface
- A surface whose appearance is important to the agreed product presentation.
- Critical dimension
- A dimension identified as particularly important to fit, function or another defined requirement.
- Design for manufacturing
- Reviewing a design in the context of the proposed manufacturing process.
- Elastomer
- A material family characterized by elastic deformation; the exact type and grade still need specification.
- Finish reference
- An identified sample or standard used to describe and approve surface appearance.
- Fixture
- A device used to locate or hold a workpiece during an operation or inspection.
- Grade
- A specific material designation, more precise than a broad material family name.
- Inspection plan
- The agreed checks, methods, records and decision criteria for a part or project.
- Lead time
- The agreed period associated with a defined activity or order, measured from a specified starting condition.
- Minimum order quantity
- The smallest order quantity accepted under the relevant product and commercial conditions.
- OEM / ODM
- Commercial terms used for manufacturing or development arrangements; the actual scope must be defined in the agreement.
- Parting line
- The boundary associated with where mold sections meet on a molded part.
- Private label
- Branding or presentation under a customer brand, with the actual customization scope specified separately.
- Prototype
- A model or sample made to investigate defined design, appearance or functional questions.
- Quotation
- A proposal describing price, scope, assumptions and commercial conditions for a defined request.
- Revision
- An identified version of a design, document or specification.
- RFQ
- Request for quotation; the information supplied to obtain a manufacturing or supply proposal.
- Sample approval
- A recorded decision on a specific sample against agreed requirements.
- Surface treatment
- An operation intended to change a surface characteristic, with suitability depending on the material and process.
- Tolerance
- The permitted variation of a specified characteristic, as defined in the agreed specification.
- Tooling
- Tools or equipment prepared for manufacturing a particular part or family of parts.
- Traceability
- The ability to connect an item or record to its relevant identity, source or processing history within an agreed scope.
